NARM (NeuroAffective Relational Model) therapy is a holistic approach designed to address complex trauma by integrating psychological, relational, and physiological perspectives. It focuses on healing the ways in which life experiences shape one's nervous system and relational patterns, aiming to restore a sense of self-regulation and connection. NARM therapists help clients navigate present challenges by shifting the impact of past relational and environmental dynamics on their present-day relationships and sense of identity, fostering healing through increased self-awareness, compassion, and resilience.

Expressive Arts therapy is a therapeutic approach that integrates various forms of creative expression, such as art, music, dance, drama, and poetry, to facilitate emotional healing and self-discovery. It encourages individuals to explore and communicate their thoughts, feelings, and experiences through the creative process rather than relying solely on verbal communication. By engaging in artistic activities in a supportive and non-judgmental environment, clients can access deeper layers of their psyche, gain insights into their emotions, and develop new perspectives on their challenges. Expressive Arts therapy is particularly effective for individuals seeking alternative ways to express and process complex emotions, trauma, or interpersonal issues, fostering personal growth, healing, and empowerment.

Internal Family Systems (IFS), also known as Parts Work, is a therapeutic model that views individuals as composed of multiple sub-personalities or "parts," each with its own unique characteristics, emotions, and roles. Developed by Richard Schwartz, IFS posits that these parts often operate autonomously and may conflict with each other, leading to inner turmoil and psychological distress. The therapist guides clients in identifying and understanding these parts, helping them to cultivate a compassionate and curious relationship with each one. Through this process, clients learn to integrate and harmonize their internal system, promoting inner balance, self-compassion, and a deeper understanding of themselves. IFS therapy is effective in addressing a wide range of issues, including trauma, anxiety, depression, and relationship difficulties, by fostering greater self-awareness and empowering clients to transform their internal dynamics towards healing and wholeness.

Mindfulness based therapies are a range of therapeutic approaches focused on cultivating present-moment awareness and non-judgmental acceptance of one's thoughts, emotions, and bodily sensations. Mindfulness utilizes techniques derived from meditation practices to help clients observe and detach from their thoughts and feelings in such a way that allows them to be present with these experiences without becoming overwhelmed. Through mindfulness-based interventions such as breathing exercises, body scans, and meditation, individuals develop heightened awareness of their internal experiences and external surroundings. This process encourages clients to respond to stressors and challenges with greater clarity, compassion, and resilience, promoting psychological well-being and fostering a deeper connection to oneself and others. Mindfulness therapy is widely employed to alleviate symptoms of anxiety, depression, chronic pain, and other stress-related conditions, offering a pathway to inner peace and personal growth.

Somatic therapy is a holistic approach that integrates the mind-body connection to promote healing and well-being. It recognizes that psychological issues can manifest in physical symptoms and vice versa, addressing both through techniques that involve bodily sensations, movements, and awareness. Somatic therapists help clients explore and release tension, trauma, and emotions stored in the body, often using techniques such as breathwork, mindfulness, gentle movement, and touch to facilitate the release of physical and emotional blockages. By reconnecting with bodily sensations and fostering self-awareness, clients can deepen their understanding of how past experiences impact their present state, leading to increased resilience, emotional regulation, and overall integration of mind and body. Somatic therapy is effective for treating trauma-related disorders, chronic pain, stress-related conditions, and enhancing overall emotional well-being.

Somatic Experiencing® (SE™) emerges as a transformative path to healing, blending gentle mind-body techniques with deep insights into trauma recovery. Developed by Dr. Peter Levine, SE™ draws inspiration from the natural resilience of wild animals, who instinctively discharge survival energies to evade trauma. This innate capacity to self-regulate exists within humans as well, though it is often overridden in modern society, leading to a spectrum of symptoms ranging from chronic stress and anxiety to severe trauma responses. In short, individuals can become ‘stuck’ in survival mode (fight, flight, freeze, and fawn), and SE supports clients in moving out of this state, freeing up energy to be redirected towards life.
In SE™, practitioners believe in the profound ability of our nervous systems to move towards healing when given the right conditions. By cultivating present-moment awareness of bodily sensations, individuals are empowered to reconnect with their innate resilience and wellness. Over time, this process integrates mind and body, fostering a natural sense of ease, connection, and wholeness.
Somatic Experiencing® (SE™) offers a myriad of advantages, including: an increased ability to engage fully in life rather than just going through the motions, better navigation of stressful situations, enhanced creativity and vitality, improved attentional focus, and relief from physical pain.
A Note About Therapy
The decision to seek therapy is not always an easy one. As human beings, we often hold the misunderstanding that we should be able to handle all of life's struggles on our own or that it is not okay to ask for help. Sometimes we fear judgment, sometimes we fear change, sometimes we're afraid that no one will understand, and sometimes we falsely believe that asking for help shows weakness.
In therapy, many people find they are not alone and that change is possible. Although the details of each person's experiences are unique, our emotions are universal. It takes great strength to face and deal with our emotions, and to take the steps to move forward into what seems like the great unknown.
As therapists, we feel honored when we are invited to share another person's journey toward fulfillment and contentment through the therapeutic process.
Thank you for allowing us to take part in your journey.
